Author: Alan Jones
Captain Jones' naval career began as a cadet on HMS Worcester, followed by appointments with various companies, gaining his Master's certificate in 1957. He also spent some time ashore in the USA and Canada as an Owner's Superintendent and as a consultant in chartered shipping in between seafaring.

Living with the sea evokes a need to write about it, whether in poems, songs or prose. This book records a life spent upon the sea, from junior cadet to captain, and some of the reflections which at lonely times in the ocean's vastness seemed to have sprung from its depth.
